Botox & Neurotoxin Injections in Lubbock, TX

All four FDA-approved wrinkle relaxers under one roof in Lubbock: Botox, Dysport, Daxxify, and Xeomin. Billed by the unit and matched to your face at a consultation.

How long a wrinkle relaxer appointment takes

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin typically last about three to four months. Daxxify tends to last longer, with a median of about six months in its clinical trials, though results vary from person to person. First-time results often run shorter until your muscles adjust over a few treatment cycles.

What kind of treatment is a wrinkle relaxer?

A quick in-office series of small injections with a fine needle, with little to no downtime, so most people return to their day right afterward. Performed by our nurse injectors, Becca (MSN, FNP-C) and Angie (RN), under medical director Dr. Arledge, a plastic surgeon.

Where we inject wrinkle relaxers

Most often the frown lines between the brows, the horizontal lines across the forehead, and the crow's feet at the eyes. The same botulinum toxin also creates a subtle lip flip and treats excessive underarm sweating.

What wrinkle relaxers treat

For softening dynamic lines, the creases that form from years of facial expression. Neurotoxin relaxes the muscle movement under the line rather than filling it, so it works best on lines tied to motion rather than folds that sit deep when your face is at rest.

Our Neurotoxin Services

Botox

$14 / unit

Dysport

$5 / unit

Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) softens frown lines and other expression lines by relaxing the muscles underneath. At The Spa by Sheena in Lubbock, Dysport is $5 per unit, injected by Becca (MSN, FNP-C) or Angie (RN). Many people notice results in one to three days, and they last about three to four months.

Daxxify

$7 / unit

Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm) softens the frown lines between the brows by relaxing the muscles underneath. Its edge is how long it lasts: in clinical trials the median result held about 6 months, longer than the 3 to 4 months typical of other neurotoxins, though results vary and some people see less. At The Spa by Sheena in Lubbock, Daxxify is $7 per unit, injected by Becca (MSN, FNP-C) or Angie (RN).

The four wrinkle relaxers, and why they are not the same

What are wrinkle relaxers and neurotoxins?

A neurotoxin, sometimes called a wrinkle relaxer or neuromodulator, is a purified protein that briefly quiets the nerve signal telling a muscle to contract. Placed into specific muscles of the face, it softens the lines that years of expression carve in: the frown between the brows, the horizontal lines across the forehead, the crow's feet at the corners of the eyes. It does not fill or plump. It relaxes the movement underneath the line.

We carry all four wrinkle relaxers the FDA has approved, and each is a form of botulinum toxin type A: Botox (made by Allergan), Dysport (Galderma), Daxxify (Revance), and Xeomin (Merz). Think of them as close cousins rather than identical twins. They differ in how quickly they start working, how long they tend to last, how far they spread from each injection point, and how they are measured and dosed. This page is here to help you tell them apart before you choose.

One thing trips almost everyone up: these four are not priced or dosed on the same scale, so a per-unit price on one brand does not compare directly to a per-unit price on another. The sections below explain why that matters more than any sticker number.

What to expect during your Botox or neurotoxin appointment

Your Botox or neurotoxin appointment at The Spa by Sheena takes 15 to 20 minutes from start to finish. After a quick check-in, your injector reviews the areas you want to address — forehead, the 11s, crow's feet, or other concerns — and confirms the dosing plan. Numbing is rarely needed; most clients describe each injection as a quick pinch.

Small temporary bumps at each injection site are normal and resolve within an hour. Some clients see minor bruising, which typically clears in 7 to 10 days. To protect your result, stay upright for 4 hours, skip makeup for 3 hours, hold off on sweat and exercise for 12 hours, and avoid air travel for 48 hours.

Onset varies by brand — visible softening starts at 2 to 5 days, with peak results at 14 days. Most clients schedule maintenance every 3 to 4 months for Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, or every 5 to 6 months for Daxxify.

Why clients choose Botox at The Spa by Sheena

SOFTENS WRINKLES

Softens forehead lines, the 11s between the brows, and crow's feet — without changing the rest of your face.

PREVENTS NEW LINES

Relaxes the muscles that crease the skin — slowing how quickly new dynamic wrinkles set in over time. The case for preventative Botox.

IN AND OUT IN 15 MINUTES

15 to 20 minute appointment with no downtime. Most clients book over a lunch break and head straight back to their day.

KEEPS YOUR EXPRESSION

Trained injectors dose to soften lines, not freeze your face. You still raise your brows, smile, and look like you.

LASTS 3 TO 6 MONTHS

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin last 3 to 5 months per session. Daxxify averages 6 months and often longer — the longest-lasting FDA-approved neurotoxin.

Inside a Botox or neurotoxin appointment

Here is what actually happens. Your facial muscles contract because nerves release a messenger called acetylcholine that tells them to fire. A neurotoxin temporarily blocks that release at the nerve ending, so the treated muscle relaxes and the skin over it creases less. The effect is local, and it is not permanent. As the nerve endings recover over the following months, movement returns and the lines come back, which is why the treatment is repeated.

The visit is quick. After a consultation to map which muscles to treat, your injector places a series of small injections with a fine needle, with little to no downtime afterward. Your injectors are Becca (MSN, FNP-C) and Angie (RN), working under medical director Dr. Arledge, a plastic surgeon. The Spa has been open in Lubbock since 2016.

The four differ in ways you can actually feel. Dysport is often noticed a little sooner, sometimes within a day or two, while the others usually take a few days longer; most reach full effect around two weeks. As for how long results hold, Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin typically run about three to four months. Daxxify tends to last longer: in its clinical trials the median duration was about six months, though results vary and some see less. First-time results often run on the shorter end until your muscles adjust.

They also behave a little differently in the tissue. Dysport is generally described as spreading a bit more from each injection point, which can help cover a broad area like the forehead, though how far any product travels also depends on dose and technique. Botox and Xeomin tend to stay closer to where they are placed, handy when the goal is precise. Xeomin is a purified, or "naked," toxin with its accessory proteins stripped away; some people choose it out of concern about building resistance over time, and a consultation is the right place to weigh whether that matters for you.

Now the pricing, and the honest part. We bill neurotoxin by the unit: Botox and Xeomin are $14 per unit, Daxxify is $7 per unit, and Dysport is $5 per unit. That makes Dysport look like the cheapest option, but the units are not interchangeable. Dysport is measured on a different scale, and it takes roughly two and a half to three Dysport units to do the work of a single Botox unit. So a lower price per unit does not mean a lower price per treatment, because you need more units to get there. What actually matters is the total for your treatment plan, not the price on a single unit, and your injector works that out with you at the consultation.

Neurotoxin does more than smooth lines. A lip flip uses a few units to relax the muscle along the upper lip so a little more of it shows, and it is $125. The same botulinum toxin also calms excessive underarm sweating: our hyperhidrosis treatment is $1,400 for both underarms, covering the 100 units it takes. The one thing neurotoxin does not do is add volume. If that is your goal, dermal fillers are the place to look, whether that means lip filler for the mouth or a collagen stimulator like Sculptra for gradual, deeper volume over time.

Before booking, here's what to flag with your injector

Before your Botox or neurotoxin appointment

A consultation comes first, every time. Your injector reviews your health history and what you are hoping to change, then recommends a product, a dose, and the muscles to treat. Good candidates are generally healthy adults bothered by lines that show up with movement. We cannot promise a specific result, and no honest injector will, but we will tell you plainly what to expect and which of the four fits you best.

Side effects are usually mild and temporary. The most common is a little bruising, tenderness, or redness where the needle went in, and some people get a mild headache after their first treatment. Less often, product can affect a nearby muscle and cause a temporary droop of an eyelid or brow; when that happens it fades as the neurotoxin wears off. Careful placement keeps that risk low, which is part of why the injector matters.

Some people should wait or skip these treatments, so be open with your injector. Botulinum toxin has not been established as safe in pregnancy or breastfeeding, so it is not done then. Tell your injector if you have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis, ALS, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or if you take certain antibiotics called aminoglycosides, since these can change how the toxin acts. Share every medication and condition; that is how your injector keeps you safe.

FAQ

Your questions,  answered

We’ve answered some of the most common questions below to help make your experience simple, transparent, and stress-free.

All four are FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A injections that relax targeted muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles. The differences come down to onset, duration, formulation, and spread.

  • Botox — the original. Most-studied, most-used. Onset 4 to 7 days, duration 3 to 5 months.
  • Dysport — faster onset (2 to 3 days), broader spread. Good for forehead lines and larger surface areas.
  • Daxxify — the longest-lasting. Average duration 6 months, sometimes longer.
  • Xeomin — filtered of accessory proteins. The right choice for clients who have built resistance to other brands.

We carry all four at The Spa by Sheena. Your injector recommends the right one based on your face, history, and goals — not what is in stock.

What's the difference between Botox, Dysport, Daxxify, and Xeomin?

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin typically last 3 to 5 months per session. Daxxify averages 6 months and can extend further. The exact duration for your face depends on metabolism, dose, muscle strength, and how consistently you treat — clients who have been on a regular schedule for years often see results stretch longer.

Most clients at The Spa by Sheena book maintenance every 3 to 4 months for Botox and Dysport, every 5 to 6 months for Daxxify. The right cadence is the one where you book again at the first sign of movement returning — not after the lines are fully back.

How long does Botox last in Lubbock?

Standard Botox dosing by area:

  • Forehead lines — 12 to 24 units
  • The 11s (glabellar) — 20 to 30 units
  • Crow's feet — 12 to 24 units per side
  • Bunny lines — 4 to 6 units
  • Lip flip — 4 to 6 units
  • Masseter slimming or TMJ — 20 to 50 units per side

Stronger muscles need more units, and dosing varies by brand. Your injector calculates exact units at your appointment. We do not sell minimum packages — you pay for the units you actually receive.

How many units of Botox do I need?

Per-unit Botox pricing at The Spa by Sheena:

  • Botox — $14 / unit
  • Xeomin — $14 / unit
  • Daxxify — $7 / unit
  • Dysport — $5 / unit

Dysport units are smaller than Botox units, so you need more of them for the same effect — total Dysport visit cost is comparable to Botox. Daxxify uses similar unit counts to Botox at a lower per-unit price. on per-unit pricing every session. We do not bundle minimum packages.

How much does Botox cost per unit in Lubbock?

Initial softening shows at 4 to 7 days for Botox and Xeomin, 2 to 3 days for Dysport, and as early as 1 to 2 days for Daxxify. Full result lands at 14 days for every brand — the medication needs time to bind to the muscle receptors before reaching peak effect.

Do not judge your result before the 2-week mark. If anything still reads uneven at day 14, book a touch-up assessment — that is exactly what the window is for.

When will I see Botox results?

Botox is a quick pinch at each injection site delivered with an ultra-fine needle. Most clients describe the sensation as similar to a mosquito bite. The entire appointment takes 15 to 20 minutes from start to finish, with most of that time spent reviewing your goals — actual injection time is just a few minutes.

Topical numbing is available on request, but the majority of clients skip it and walk out the same day with no lingering discomfort.

Does Botox hurt?

Common and expected: minor bruising or swelling at injection sites that clears in 24 to 48 hours, occasional mild headache the day of treatment, small temporary bumps that resolve within an hour.

Rare: temporary asymmetry or eyelid droop, almost always due to product migration from rubbing or pressure too soon after treatment. These resolve on their own as the neurotoxin wears off over 6 to 8 weeks.

Serious side effects are extremely rare with proper injection technique. We screen for contraindications at every appointment and review your medical history before dosing.

What are the side effects of Botox?

Stay upright for the first 4 hours after Botox — no lying down, no bending forward, no face-down pressure. After 4 hours you can lie down normally; sleeping on your back the first night is still the safest call.

Also avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area, facials, hot yoga, saunas, and strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours. These restrictions prevent the neurotoxin from migrating to muscles you did not pay to treat.

Can I lay down after Botox?

No. We do not perform Botox or any neurotoxin treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding. There is not enough safety data for either, and ethical guidelines recommend avoidance. We resume treatments once you have finished breastfeeding — book a consultation when you are ready and we will pick up where you left off.

Can I get Botox while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Only if it is over-injected. Our approach at The Spa by Sheena is to soften, not freeze — you will still raise your brows, smile, and have natural expression. If you want a more relaxed look we can dose more aggressively. If you want subtle movement preserved we will dose lighter. The result tracks the conversation we have at your appointment.

Will Botox make me look frozen?

Yes — and it is one of the strongest long-term plays in aesthetics. Preventative Botox in your late 20s and early 30s relaxes the muscles that crease the skin before the wrinkles set in deeply. Most preventative clients use lighter doses (10 to 20 units total) less often than older clients.

The case for starting in your late 20s: every year you delay the dynamic wrinkle from forming is a year you do not need a more aggressive treatment to address it later. The case for waiting: if you do not see dynamic lines at rest in your 20s, you can hold off until you do. We will give you a straight answer at consultation.

Can preventative Botox stop wrinkles?

Yes — plan ahead. Schedule your Botox 3 to 4 weeks before the event. That gives your result the full 14 days to develop and any minor bruising another full week to resolve.

Do not book Botox for the first time the week of a major event. If you have never had it, your face's response is unknown, and that is the wrong moment to learn. First-timers should treat at least 2 to 3 months before the event so we can adjust dosing at a 2-week touch-up if needed.

Can I get Botox before a wedding or major event?

Not for cosmetic Botox. Insurance covers Botox only for specific medical indications — chronic migraines, severe muscle spasticity, and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) with proper documentation. We offer Hyperhidrosis Botox as a separate service for clients who qualify.

We accept HSA and FSA cards for treatments with a medical indication. If you are unsure whether your case qualifies, bring it to consultation and we will help you sort it out.

Does insurance cover Botox?

Botox relaxes muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles — the lines created by movement, like forehead lines, the 11s, and crow's feet. Dermal fillers restore volume to areas that have lost it — cheeks, lips, under the eyes, and the jawline.

They solve different problems and most clients use both. Botox softens and prevents the wrinkles that movement creates. Fillers replace structural volume and contour. If you are not sure which one you need, book a consultation — we will walk through your goals and recommend a plan.
