GLP-1 Weight Management

GLP-1 Weight Management
Medically supervised GLP-1 weight management in Lubbock. Compounded semaglutide (from $215/month) and compounded tirzepatide (from $375/month), managed by a nurse practitioner under our medical director. Every plan starts with a consultation, lab work, and an eligibility screen.
What is wellness & hormone therapy?
Most of what The Spa does works on the outside: the skin, the face, the surface. Wellness and hormone therapy is the other half. This is the inside-out side, where the concern is not a line or a spot but how you feel day to day, your hormones, your metabolism, your energy. It is medical care, run under a provider, and none of it starts with a treatment. It starts with lab work and a conversation about what is actually going on.
The anchor here is hormone replacement therapy. As hormones fall with age, so can sleep, mood, drive, and energy, and replacing them can ease those symptoms. We use bioidentical hormones, which match the molecules your body already makes, delivered through the EvexiPEL pellet method. A pellet smaller than a grain of rice sits just under the skin and releases hormone steadily for months, so there is no daily pill to remember. It works for women and men. What it does not do is promise a set result, and the dose is not guessed: it is set after your labs. See HRT with bioidentical pellets for the full picture.
The rest of the category is about metabolism and energy. GLP-1 weight management uses medications that mimic a gut hormone your body already makes, acting on the appetite centers of the brain to blunt hunger and help you feel full sooner. The B12 skinny shot supports energy and metabolism, and NAD+ therapy is an injection built around a coenzyme every cell uses to turn food into energy. Different tools, one idea: support how the body runs from the inside. Every one of them begins with a provider, not a needle.
What's included in our wellness menu
Here is the full wellness and hormone menu. Use it as a directory: find what fits, then open the page built for it.
- HRT with bioidentical pellets — hormone replacement for women and men using the EvexiPEL method, with the pellet placed just under the skin and re-inserted every three to four months. Pricing starts with a $150 HRT consultation; your pellet dose and price are set after labs, so we do not quote a pellet number in advance.
- GLP-1 weight management — medically supervised weight management with compounded semaglutide (starting at $215 a month) or compounded tirzepatide (starting at $375 a month). These are compounded medications, dosed and monitored by our provider. Who qualifies, and what results look like, are individual, and we settle that at the consultation.
- B12 skinny shot — a B12 injection to support energy and metabolism, $35 a shot, with package and member pricing available.
- NAD+ therapy — an injection of a coenzyme your cells use to make energy, $75 per injection, with a loading-phase package to start. The research on NAD+ is still emerging, so we talk about it honestly and make no cure claims.
Two honest notes on all of this. Nothing here is sold as a quick fix or a guaranteed number, and several of these work best over time rather than in a single visit. And because dosing depends on your labs and your health, the prices above start a plan rather than finish it. We do not bill insurance for any of it, so you pay for your care directly.
Who performs wellness treatments at The Spa by Sheena
The medical side of The Spa is run by our nurse practitioner, Becca (MSN, FNP-C), and our registered nurse, Angie (RN). They handle the hormones and the injections, working under our medical director, Dr. Arledge, a plastic surgeon, which is the physician-supervised structure this kind of care is built to run inside. The Spa has been open in Lubbock since 2016, and our founder, Sheena Klos, is a CIDESCO Master Esthetician.
Nothing here starts with a treatment. It starts with lab work and a consultation, where your provider reviews your history, your medications, and your bloodwork, then decides whether a therapy fits and what the dose should be. That order matters, because these are medical decisions, not menu picks. We will tell you plainly what a treatment can and cannot do. We do not promise a specific number on the scale or a fixed result from any hormone, and where the science is still early, like NAD+, we say so rather than oversell it.
One practical point: none of this is billed to insurance, and we do not file it. You pay for your care directly. When you are ready, book online or call (806) 701-5840, and we will start where every one of these treatments starts, with labs and a conversation.

Your questions, answered
We’ve answered some of the most common questions below to help make your experience simple, transparent, and stress-free.
We're a medical day spa offering five categories of treatments: injectables (Botox, fillers, Sculptra, Kybella), skincare treatments (facials, peels, microneedling, dermaplaning), laser treatments (hair removal, IPL, PiQo4, tattoo removal), advanced treatments (RF microneedling, PRP, plasma pen, sclerotherapy), and wellness services (GLP-1 weight management, hormone replacement, NAD+, B12). All under physician oversight.
What services does The Spa by Sheena offer?
8713 Milwaukee Ave #200, Lubbock, TX 79424. We're easy to find, with ample parking. Hours: Monday 10am–3pm, Tuesday through Friday 9am–6pm, Saturday 10am–3pm, closed Sunday. Call (806) 701-5840 for directions or to book.
Where is The Spa by Sheena located?
Yes. We're a medical day spa operating under physician oversight, with Patricia Arledge, MD (plastic surgeon) as our Medical Director. All injectable, laser, and wellness treatments are performed by licensed clinical providers following medical protocols. We're regulated as a medical practice, not a beauty salon—a meaningful difference for safety and outcomes.
Is The Spa by Sheena a medical spa?
Sheena Klos founded The Spa in 2016 and serves as Spa Director and a Medical Aesthetician. Her vision: bring physician-overseen aesthetic and wellness care to Lubbock with the consistency of a major-city medical spa and the personal attention of a local business.
Who founded The Spa by Sheena?
Our clinical team includes Aesthetic Injectors Rebecca Fant, MSN, FNP-C and Angela Hunsaker, RN; Medical Aestheticians Sheena Klos, Posey Pence, and Victoria Henry; Brayden Mitchell; and Client Experience Provider Madison Brown. All work under the medical direction of Patricia Arledge, MD, our plastic surgeon Medical Director.
Who are the providers at The Spa?
Book online at thespalubbock.com or call (806) 701-5840. Most treatments have online booking available 24/7. For complex services (injectables, lasers, wellness), we recommend starting with a free consultation so we can build the right treatment plan together.
How do I book an appointment?
Yes—consultations for injectables, lasers, advanced treatments, and wellness services are complimentary and carry no obligation. We'll evaluate your concerns, recommend a treatment plan, and give you honest pricing. You decide if and when you want to move forward.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. Our membership program gives you discounted per-service pricing across the menu, priority booking, and early access to new treatments and events. Membership tiers fit different commitment levels—we'll help you choose what fits your goals. Ask at your consultation or call for current pricing.
Do you offer memberships?
No. We do not accept or bill insurance. Most aesthetic and wellness services are elective and are not covered. For medical treatments such as Botox for hyperhidrosis, some plans will reimburse you directly, and we can provide documentation for you to submit, though coverage is up to your insurer. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards where the service qualifies.
Do you accept insurance?
Three things. First, physician oversight: our Medical Director is a plastic surgeon, not a general practitioner. Second, our team's licensure: every clinical role is held by a licensed professional appropriate to the service—no shortcuts. Third, our approach: we'd rather under-treat and have you come back happy than over-treat and have you regret it. We've been operating in Lubbock since 2016.
How is The Spa different from other med spas in Lubbock?
We work with first-time patients constantly. Bring your concerns—nothing is too small or too "obvious." We'll explain what each treatment does, what it can and can't change, and what makes sense for your goals and budget. There's no pressure to commit, no upselling, and no judgment about what brought you in.
What if I'm new to medical aesthetics?
Yes, and we encourage it. Reference photos help us understand your aesthetic preferences. We'll be honest about what's realistic with your facial structure and what isn't. Photos of yourself from earlier years are also useful if your goal is to recapture a previous look.
Can I bring photos to my consultation?
Our wellness services address weight management, hormone balance, energy, and cellular health. The program includes physician-managed GLP-1 weight loss (semaglutide and tirzepatide), bioidentical hormone replacement therapy via pellet insertion for women and men, NAD+ infusions for cellular health and recovery, and B12/lipotropic injection blends for energy and metabolism support. All services are overseen by Patricia Arledge, MD.
What does The Spa's wellness program include?
Both are GLP-1 medications for weight management, but they work slightly differently. Semaglutide (the active in Ozempic and Wegovy) targets a single receptor pathway. Tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) targets two pathways and tends to produce greater weight loss in head-to-head studies—roughly 20% body weight loss on tirzepatide vs 15% on semaglutide. Pricing and tolerability differ; we'll discuss which fits you at consultation.
What's the difference between semaglutide and tirzepatide?
Most patients lose 1–2 lbs per week consistently once at therapeutic dose, with the rate of loss leveling out at month 6–9. Total expected loss at month 12 is 15–22% of starting body weight depending on the medication, starting weight, and lifestyle integration. We start at low doses to minimize side effects and titrate up monthly. The first month is usually the dose-finding phase, not the rapid loss phase.
How quickly will I lose weight on GLP-1 medication?
GLP-1 medications have been used to treat type 2 diabetes for over 15 years and have a well-established safety record. For weight management specifically, long-term data is newer but increasingly positive. Risks include nausea (usually transient), pancreatitis (rare), and gallbladder issues with rapid weight loss. We monitor lab work regularly and adjust dosing based on response and tolerability.
Are GLP-1 medications safe long-term?
Anyone with symptoms of hormone imbalance and lab confirmation: fatigue, weight gain, hot flashes, low libido, mood changes, sleep disruption, brain fog. We start with a full hormone panel via blood draw, then design a treatment plan based on results. HRT isn't appropriate for everyone—we screen for contraindications including history of certain cancers, blood clot disorders, and active cardiovascular disease.
Who is a candidate for hormone replacement therapy?
Bioidentical pellets are rice-sized hormone implants placed under the skin (usually hip or buttock) during a quick in-office procedure. They release a consistent dose over 3–5 months for women and 4–6 months for men. Pellets avoid the daily dosing of creams and the absorption variability of oral hormones. The hormones themselves are bio-identical—structurally identical to what your body produces naturally.
What are bioidentical hormone pellets and how are they different from creams or pills?
We numb the insertion site with local anesthetic before placing the pellets, so the procedure itself is virtually painless. Most patients describe slight pressure. The site is sore for 24–48 hours afterward, similar to a moderate bruise. Avoid swimming, hot tubs, and strenuous exercise for 5–7 days. Most patients return to normal activity within a few hours.
Does pellet insertion hurt?
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme present in every cell in your body, essential for energy production and DNA repair. NAD+ levels decline with age and stress. IV NAD+ infusion delivers a therapeutic dose directly to your cells, supporting energy, mental clarity, cellular repair, and recovery. Most patients feel benefits within 24–48 hours after their first infusion.
What is NAD+ and what does it do?
Weekly during an initial loading phase (4–6 weeks), then every 1–2 weeks for maintenance. Patients with energy or metabolism goals often see best results with weekly shots. Our B12 blend includes methyl-B12 plus lipotropic compounds (MIC: methionine, inositol, choline) that support fat metabolism. The shot itself takes seconds.
How often should I get a B12 shot?
Yes for hormone replacement therapy and GLP-1 medications—we need baseline labs to dose correctly and monitor response. For NAD+ and B12 we typically don't require lab work first unless you have an underlying condition. We can order labs through our partner lab company or work with results from your primary care provider.
Do I need lab work before starting wellness treatments?
Wellness pricing varies by treatment. GLP-1 weight management starts at $215/month. HRT requires a $150 consultation with pellet pricing set after labs. NAD+ is $75 per injection. B12 Skinny Shot is $35 per shot. See individual service pages for full pricing details. Membership pricing applies.
What does the wellness program cost?
Book a wellness consultation. We'll review your symptoms and goals, order any needed lab work, and design a treatment plan with honest pricing. Most patients start with one or two services and add others as they see results. Call (806) 701-5840 or book online.
