DURATION
A Botox appointment at The Spa by Sheena lasts 15 to 20 minutes, which covers the consultation with your injector and the injections themselves.
PROCEDURE TYPE
Botox is classified as a cosmetic procedure, used electively to soften the appearance of expression lines rather than to treat a medical condition.
BODY AREA
Botox at The Spa by Sheena is injected on the face, most commonly into the forehead, glabellar lines (the "11s" between the brows), crow's feet, and bunny lines.
INDICATION
Botox at The Spa by Sheena treats dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated facial expression, including forehead lines, glabellar lines (the "11s"), crow's feet, and bunny lines.
THE PROTOCOL
What is Botox?
Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A. When injected into specific facial muscles, it temporarily blocks the nerve signal that tells those muscles to contract. The wrinkles that form from years of expression — forehead furrows, the "11s" between your brows, crow's feet around the eyes — soften and smooth as the muscle relaxes.
This isn't filler. Botox doesn't add volume. It quiets movement, and the lines that movement creates soften with it.
What to expect from your Botox appointment
A neurotoxin session takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The injector reviews the areas you want addressed, then places small amounts of product into the targeted muscles with a fine needle. Most patients describe it as a quick pinch at each injection point.
After your appointment, you may notice small temporary bumps at each injection site. These resolve quickly. Some patients bruise; if you do, expect it to clear within 7 to 10 days.
Keep your head upright and avoid lying flat for the first few hours. Skip makeup for 3 hours, sweating and exercise for 12 hours, and flying for 48 hours. Onset varies by product (2 to 5 days for visible softening), with full results at about 2 weeks. Treated areas typically hold for 3 to 4 months for Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, and about 6 months for Daxxify.

THE APPOINTMENT
Inside a Botox appointment
A session takes about 15 to 20 minutes. After a brief consultation with your injector to confirm the areas you want addressed and review your medical history, the injector uses a fine needle to place small amounts of product into the targeted muscles. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick pinch.
You'll see initial softening in 3 to 5 days. Full results develop over about 14 days, after which the treated areas hold their relaxed position for roughly 3 to 5 months before movement returns.
GOOD TO KNOW
How Botox compares to Dysport, Daxxify, and Xeomin
Botox is one of four neurotoxins we work with. Dysport, Daxxify, and Xeomin share the same mechanism with slightly different formulations and onset times. Your injector can help you decide which is right for your goals during consultation.
FAQ
Your questions, answered
We’ve answered some of the most common questions below to help make your experience simple, transparent, and stress-free.
Botox (botulinumtoxinA) is a purified protein that temporarily blocks nerve signals to specific muscles. When injected into the small facial muscles that create wrinkles, those muscles can't contract as forcefully—so the overlying skin smooths out. It's FDA-approved for cosmetic and medical use since 2002, with decades of safety data.
What is Botox and how does it work?
On average, 3–4 months per treatment. First-time patients often see slightly shorter duration as the muscle hasn't been weakened over time. Patients who treat consistently for years often see results last 4+ months. Daxxify lasts longer (6+ months) if duration is your priority.
How long does Botox last?
Standard dosing: forehead lines 10–20 units, frown lines ("11s") 15–25, crow's feet 12–24, jawline slimming 30–50 per side, lip flip 4–6, masseter 25–50 per side. Your provider calculates exact units based on your muscle strength and goals at consultation. We charge for what you use—no preset packages.
How many units of Botox do I need?
Botox is $14 per unit at The Spa by Sheena. You pay only for the units used—no preset packages. Typical dosing: 10–20 units for forehead lines, 15–25 for frown lines ("11s"), 12–24 for crow's feet per side, 25–50 per side for masseter (jaw slimming), 50 per underarm for hyperhidrosis. Your provider calculates exact units at your appointment. Members receive discounted per-unit pricing.
What does Botox cost per unit in Lubbock?
Initial softening at 4–7 days, full effect at 14 days. Don't judge your result before 2 weeks—the medication needs time to bind to muscle receptors. We schedule touch-up appointments at 2 weeks if any area needs adjustment.
How quickly will I see Botox results?
Quick pinches with an ultra-fine needle. Most patients are in and out in 10–15 minutes. We can apply topical numbing if you're sensitive, but most people don't request it. Discomfort is on par with a mosquito bite per injection site.
Does Botox hurt?
Common: minor bruising or swelling at injection sites (resolves in 24–48 hours), occasional mild headache after first treatment. Rare: temporary asymmetry or eyelid droop (almost always from product migration, resolves on its own over weeks). Serious side effects are extremely rare with proper technique. We screen for contraindications at consultation.
Are there side effects of Botox?
No—we don't perform neurotoxin treatments during pregnancy or breastfeeding. There isn't sufficient safety data to justify the risk. We can resume treatments after you've finished breastfeeding.
Can I get Botox while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Only if over-injected. Our approach: soften, not freeze. You'll keep natural movement and expression. If you want a more relaxed look, we can dose more aggressively; if you want minimal change with movement preserved, we'll dose lighter. The aesthetic matches you.
Will Botox make me look frozen?
Cosmetic: forehead lines, frown lines (between brows), crow's feet (around eyes), bunny lines (nose), lip flip, lip lines, chin dimpling, jawline slimming, masseter (TMJ/grinding relief), neck bands. Medical: hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), chronic migraines, certain muscle spasm disorders.
What areas does Botox treat?
Wait 24 hours before strenuous exercise, hot yoga, saunas, or facial treatments. Light walking is fine. Heat and pressure can theoretically spread neurotoxin to unintended muscles during the first 24 hours. Stay upright for at least 4 hours after treatment.
Can I exercise after Botox?
Yes—called "preventative Botox." By relaxing muscles that cause repeated creasing, you prevent the wrinkles from setting in deeply. Most preventative patients are in their late 20s/early 30s, using lower doses less frequently. Starting earlier means using less product to maintain results long-term.
Can Botox prevent wrinkles?
Botox relaxes muscles to soften wrinkles from movement (forehead, frown lines, crow's feet). Fillers replace lost volume (lips, cheeks, under eyes, jawline). They treat different problems and most patients use both. Botox prevents and softens; fillers replace and contour.
What's the difference between Botox and fillers?
Yes—schedule 2–3 weeks before the event so results are fully visible and any minor bruising has resolved. Don't get Botox for the first time the week of a major event—we want certainty about your result before the big day.
Can I get Botox before a wedding or event?
Not for cosmetic use. Insurance may cover Botox for documented medical conditions (chronic migraines, severe hyperhidrosis, certain muscle disorders). We don't bill insurance directly but provide documentation for you to submit for medical-indication treatments. Cosmetic use is out-of-pocket.
Will my insurance cover Botox?
Yes—Botox in the masseter muscles (jaw muscles) reduces grinding/clenching and can slim a square jawline. Common dosing: 25–50 units per side, repeated every 3–4 months. Many patients see significant relief from TMJ symptoms and headaches, with cosmetic jawline slimming as a bonus benefit.
Can Botox treat TMJ or jaw grinding?
Rare—called immune resistance. Some patients develop antibodies that reduce effectiveness, particularly with very frequent treatments or high doses over years. Xeomin (which lacks the accessory proteins that trigger antibodies) is an option for these patients. The vast majority of patients don't experience resistance.
Will Botox stop working over time?
All four are FDA-approved neurotoxins doing the same thing. Botox: original, most studied, predictable. Dysport: spreads more (advantageous for forehead, faster onset). Daxxify: lasts 6+ months. Xeomin: no accessory proteins, useful for patients with prior resistance. We carry all four; right choice depends on your goals.
What's the difference between Botox, Dysport, Daxxify, and Xeomin?
Yes—commonly combined with fillers (different concerns), with chemical peels and lasers (do Botox first since the others can affect injection sites), with skincare regimens. We can sequence everything appropriately in your treatment plan.
Can I combine Botox with other treatments?
First-time patients: book a complimentary consultation. Returning patients: book the treatment directly online or call (806) 701-5840. We schedule treatments six days a week. Most appointments are available within a week.
