ResurFX

ResurFX is a 1565 nm non-ablative fractional laser on the Lumenis Stellar M22. We use it on the face, neck and chest, and on scars and stretch marks.

What are laser treatments?

Laser and light treatments use focused energy to fix a problem at its source, without a scalpel and without disturbing the skin around it. The idea behind them is called selective photothermolysis, and it is simpler than the name. A chosen wavelength of light is absorbed by one specific target, the pigment in a sunspot, the pigment in a hair follicle, the red of a broken vessel, a particle of tattoo ink, and turns to heat right there, while the skin next to it is left alone. Pick the target, pick the light. That is the whole principle these services are built on.

The treatments here aim that principle at different targets. Laser hair removal goes after the pigment in the follicle, heating it to slow and reduce regrowth over a series of sessions, because hair grows in cycles and only part of it is treatable at any one visit. An IPL photo facial is the odd one out here: it uses broad-spectrum light rather than a single-wavelength laser, which lets one treatment work on both the brown of sun damage and the red of rosacea and broken capillaries. Our melasma and pigmentation laser is tuned lower and gentler on purpose, because melasma is stubborn and reacts badly to too much heat.

Two more services run on the PiQo4, a picosecond and nanosecond laser that breaks pigment into fragments small enough for your body to carry away. Tattoo removal, our most-visited treatment page, uses it to shatter ink; the PiQo4 laser facial uses the same tool at facial settings for tone and pigment. And acne treatment is not a single laser at all, but a custom plan that may pair facials and peels with a Carbon Cleanse laser to calm active breakouts. If your concern is texture, fine lines or mild acne scarring rather than pigment, ResurFX targets water in the skin instead of pigment, heating narrow columns to rebuild collagen without removing the surface. For deeper scarring, microneedling is often the better route, and we will say so. Darker skin tones can be treated, but they need the right device and settings, so who is a candidate for what gets decided at your consultation, never before.

What's included in our laser menu

Here is the full laser and light menu. Use it as a directory: find what you want to change, then open the page built for that treatment.

  • Laser hair removal — targets the pigment in the follicle to reduce regrowth over a series, since hair grows in cycles and each session catches only the hairs in an active phase. It runs $75 to $375 per session by area, from small spots to large ones, with a discount on a six-session series.
  • Tattoo removal — our PiQo4 laser shatters the ink into particles small enough for your body to clear on its own. It is priced by size, from $99 for the smallest tattoo up to $349 for a large piece, with the very biggest quoted at a consultation. Color inks and a Pro-Nox comfort option are available. This is our most-visited page, and the one to open if ink is what you are here for.
  • IPL photo facial — broad-spectrum light, not a laser, that treats brown spots, redness, and rosacea across a whole area at once. It is $250 to $650 per session depending on the area treated.
  • Melasma and pigmentation laser — a gentler, lower-energy laser aimed at stubborn facial pigment. It is $400 per session and done as a series of two to four.
  • Acne treatment — a custom plan rather than one procedure, which may combine acne facials, peels, and a Carbon Cleanse laser. It runs $215 to $350 depending on the plan we build for your skin.
  • PiQo4 laser facial — the PiQo4 at facial settings, working on tone and pigment across the face. It is $325, with the neck added for $100 more or the neck and décolletage for $200 more, and it is done as a series of three to five.
  • ResurFX laser resurfacing — a non-ablative fractional laser on the Lumenis Stellar M22 that works on texture, fine lines, mild acne scarring, scars and stretch marks, with a few red days rather than an open wound. It is done as a series, can be paired with IPL in the same visit, and pricing is confirmed at your consultation.

Two honest notes. None of these is a one-and-done fix: most work over a series, and results keep building in the weeks between appointments. And no laser promises a specific outcome. What any of them can do for your skin, and whether it is safe for your skin, is settled at the consultation before anything is scheduled.

Who performs laser treatments at The Spa by Sheena

Every laser and light treatment at The Spa is run by licensed, trained staff, not handed to whoever is free. We operate under our medical director, Dr. Arledge, a plastic surgeon, which is the physician-supervised structure these devices are meant to run inside. The Spa has been open in Lubbock since 2016, and our founder, Sheena Klos, is a CIDESCO Master Esthetician.

Nothing starts with the laser. Every treatment begins with a consultation, where we look at your skin, your history, and what you want to change, then match you to the right device and settings, or tell you plainly if a treatment is not a fit. Skin type matters more here than almost anywhere, because the wrong light on the wrong skin can burn or leave a mark, so for some treatments we patch test a small area first and adjust from there. Wavelength, energy, and placement are where both safety and the result are decided, which is why a trained hand matters and why we will not promise a specific outcome. No honest provider can.

One practical point: these are elective cosmetic services, so they are not covered by insurance, and we do not bill it. You pay for your treatment directly. When you are ready, book online or call (806) 701-5840, and we will help you find the treatment that fits what you want to change.

FAQ

Your questions,  answered

We’ve answered some of the most common questions below to help make your experience simple, transparent, and stress-free.

We're a medical day spa offering five categories of treatments: injectables (Botox, fillers, Sculptra, Kybella), skincare treatments (facials, peels, microneedling, dermaplaning), laser treatments (hair removal, IPL, PiQo4, tattoo removal), advanced treatments (RF microneedling, PRP, plasma pen, sclerotherapy), and wellness services (GLP-1 weight management, hormone replacement, NAD+, B12). All under physician oversight.

What services does The Spa by Sheena offer?

8713 Milwaukee Ave #200, Lubbock, TX 79424. We're easy to find, with ample parking. Hours: Monday 10am–3pm, Tuesday through Friday 9am–6pm, Saturday 10am–3pm, closed Sunday. Call (806) 701-5840 for directions or to book.

Where is The Spa by Sheena located?

Yes. We're a medical day spa operating under physician oversight, with Patricia Arledge, MD (plastic surgeon) as our Medical Director. All injectable, laser, and wellness treatments are performed by licensed clinical providers following medical protocols. We're regulated as a medical practice, not a beauty salon—a meaningful difference for safety and outcomes.

Is The Spa by Sheena a medical spa?

Sheena Klos founded The Spa in 2016 and serves as Spa Director and a Medical Aesthetician. Her vision: bring physician-overseen aesthetic and wellness care to Lubbock with the consistency of a major-city medical spa and the personal attention of a local business.

Who founded The Spa by Sheena?

Our clinical team includes Aesthetic Injectors Rebecca Fant, MSN, FNP-C and Angela Hunsaker, RN; Medical Aestheticians Sheena Klos, Posey Pence, and Victoria Henry; Brayden Mitchell; and Client Experience Provider Madison Brown. All work under the medical direction of Patricia Arledge, MD, our plastic surgeon Medical Director.

Who are the providers at The Spa?

Book online at thespalubbock.com or call (806) 701-5840. Most treatments have online booking available 24/7. For complex services (injectables, lasers, wellness), we recommend starting with a free consultation so we can build the right treatment plan together.

How do I book an appointment?

Yes—consultations for injectables, lasers, advanced treatments, and wellness services are complimentary and carry no obligation. We'll evaluate your concerns, recommend a treatment plan, and give you honest pricing. You decide if and when you want to move forward.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes. Our membership program gives you discounted per-service pricing across the menu, priority booking, and early access to new treatments and events. Membership tiers fit different commitment levels—we'll help you choose what fits your goals. Ask at your consultation or call for current pricing.

Do you offer memberships?

No. We do not accept or bill insurance. Most aesthetic and wellness services are elective and are not covered. For medical treatments such as Botox for hyperhidrosis, some plans will reimburse you directly, and we can provide documentation for you to submit, though coverage is up to your insurer. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards where the service qualifies.

Do you accept insurance?

Three things. First, physician oversight: our Medical Director is a plastic surgeon, not a general practitioner. Second, our team's licensure: every clinical role is held by a licensed professional appropriate to the service—no shortcuts. Third, our approach: we'd rather under-treat and have you come back happy than over-treat and have you regret it. We've been operating in Lubbock since 2016.

How is The Spa different from other med spas in Lubbock?

We work with first-time patients constantly. Bring your concerns—nothing is too small or too "obvious." We'll explain what each treatment does, what it can and can't change, and what makes sense for your goals and budget. There's no pressure to commit, no upselling, and no judgment about what brought you in.

What if I'm new to medical aesthetics?

Yes, and we encourage it. Reference photos help us understand your aesthetic preferences. We'll be honest about what's realistic with your facial structure and what isn't. Photos of yourself from earlier years are also useful if your goal is to recapture a previous look.

Can I bring photos to my consultation?

Lasers and light devices target specific concerns by wavelength. At The Spa by Sheena we treat unwanted hair (face and body), sun damage and pigmentation, melasma, vascular concerns like spider veins and rosacea redness, active acne, acne scars, tattoos of any color, and overall facial rejuvenation. The right device depends on your skin type and what you're treating—we'll match you at consultation.

What can laser treatments treat?

Yes, when matched correctly to your skin type. Some lasers work on lighter skin only; others (like our diode laser for hair removal and the PiQo4 for tattoo and pigment) are safe across the Fitzpatrick scale. The single biggest cause of laser injury is the wrong device being used on the wrong skin type. We screen carefully and never use a device that isn't safe for your skin.

Are laser treatments safe for all skin tones?

Multiple sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart are required for permanent hair reduction. Hair grows in cycles, and laser only kills hair in the active growth phase—that's why a series is necessary. Total count varies by area and individual response. After your initial series, occasional maintenance treatments keep results long-term. Hormonal changes (pregnancy, PCOS, menopause) can trigger new hair growth that needs touch-ups.

How many laser hair removal sessions will I need?

Most patients describe it as a rubber band snap. Our diode laser has built-in cooling that significantly reduces discomfort compared to older devices. Sensitive areas (bikini, underarms, upper lip) feel more than other zones. We offer topical numbing for patients who want extra comfort, and most people don't need it.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

IPL (intense pulsed light) is a broadband light source—not a single-wavelength laser. It's particularly effective at treating brown spots from sun damage, redness from rosacea, and overall tone. Lasers use a single focused wavelength that's better for specific deeper targets. We use both, often in combination, depending on what we're treating.

How is IPL different from laser?

Yes. Our PiQo4 laser uses picosecond pulses to shatter tattoo ink into particles small enough for your body to clear naturally. PiQo4 works on all ink colors including blue, green, and yellow—which older Q-switched lasers struggled with. Most tattoos need 6 to 12 sessions spaced 10 to 12+ weeks apart for complete removal. Cost depends on tattoo size, color, and ink complexity.

Can lasers remove tattoos?

It depends on the treatment. Hair removal: no downtime, slight redness for a few hours. IPL photo facial: 5–7 days of dark spots gradually flaking off (totally normal). PiQo4 facial: 24–48 hours of mild redness. Laser tattoo removal: 7–14 days of mild crusting at the treatment site. We give you a written aftercare plan at every appointment.

How long is the downtime after a laser treatment?

Don't get laser treatments if you're pregnant, have a recent tan or sunburn, are taking Accutane (or have in the past 6 months), have an active herpes outbreak in the treatment area, or have certain photosensitive conditions. Some medications also need to be discussed beforehand. We screen for all of this at consultation.

When should I avoid laser treatments?

Laser pricing varies by device and area. Laser hair removal: $75–$375 per session. IPL photo facials: $250–$650. PiQo4 Laser Facial: $325. Melasma laser: $400. Tattoo removal: $99–$349 per session. Membership reduces per-session cost—see individual service pages for full details.

What does laser treatment cost in Lubbock?

You need to avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least 4 weeks before any laser treatment, including spray tans and tanning beds. Treating tanned skin is a recipe for burns and hyperpigmentation. Use SPF 30+ daily in the weeks before and after treatment. Schedule lasers for fall/winter when possible.

Can I tan or use sunscreen before laser treatment?

Sometimes—but melasma is unique among pigmentation issues because aggressive laser treatment can make it worse. We use lasers conservatively with melasma, combining gentle settings with a strong topical regimen and sun protection. Anyone promising to "zap away" melasma with a single laser session doesn't understand the condition. Our approach is layered and ongoing.

Can lasers treat melasma?

You don't have to know. Book a free laser consultation and we'll evaluate your skin, talk through your goals, and recommend the right device and protocol. Wrong-device treatments are the #1 cause of unsatisfying laser results. Call (806) 701-5840 or book online.
