OUR STORY

Built around you
not the trend.

Twelve years ago, Sheena opened a small treatment room in Lubbock with a single belief: medical-grade aesthetics should never feel transactional. That belief still runs everything we do.

DURATION

A lip filler appointment at The Spa by Sheena lasts 30 to 45 minutes, including topical numbing, the consultation, and the placement of filler.

PROCEDURE TYPE

Lip filler at The Spa by Sheena is classified as a cosmetic procedure, used electively to enhance lip volume and shape rather than to treat a medical condition.

BODY AREA

Lip filler at The Spa by Sheena is administered on the face, specifically into the body of the lips, the vermillion border, the philtral columns, and occasionally the corners of the mouth.

INDICATION

Lip filler at The Spa by Sheena treats thin or asymmetric lips and addresses loss of lip definition, volume, and hydration, with results lasting 6 to 12 months.

THE PROTOCOL

What is lip filler?

Lip filler is a hyaluronic acid based injectable that adds volume, definition, and shape to the lips. Depending on goals, lip filler can subtly hydrate and define a natural lip shape or noticeably increase volume. The product is typically Restylane Kysse, Volbella, Juvederm Ultra, or Volbella XC, depending on the desired effect.

What to expect from your lip filler appointment

A filler session typically runs 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area. The injector cleanses the treatment area, applies topical numbing if needed, then places product with either a needle or a blunt-tipped cannula. Many fillers also contain lidocaine for in-injection comfort.

Some swelling and bruising are normal for the first few days. Lip filler patients often look noticeably swollen for 24 to 72 hours; cheek and jawline filler swelling is usually subtler. Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and blood thinners (aspirin, fish oil, NSAIDs) for 24 to 48 hours to minimize bruising.

Final results settle in over 2 to 4 weeks as swelling resolves and the product integrates. Duration varies by product and area: 6 to 12 months for lip filler, 12 to 24 months for cheek and jawline.

THE APPOINTMENT

Inside a lip filler appointment

A lip filler session takes 30 to 45 minutes. Topical numbing is applied first. The injector uses either a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula to place product precisely. Many lip fillers contain lidocaine for in-injection comfort. Most patients use 0.5 to 1 mL of product per session; full lip transformations may use up to 2 mL spread across multiple sessions.

FAQ

Your questions,  answered

We’ve answered some of the most common questions below to help make your experience simple, transparent, and stress-free.

Most patients start with 1 syringe of hyaluronic acid filler. Some need 1.5 syringes for full restoration or more dramatic shape. We rarely use more than 2 syringes per session—even patients wanting fuller lips benefit from layering filler over multiple sessions for the most natural result. Your provider calculates based on your current lip anatomy and goals.

How much lip filler do I need?

We typically use Restylane Kysse, Juvederm Volbella, or RHA Redensity for lips—soft, flexible gels that move naturally with expression. For more structure (defined lip line), Restylane Refyne or Juvederm Ultra. The right product depends on the look you want—natural plumping vs. defined shape—and your lip anatomy.

What's the best filler for lips?

Most patients see 9–12 months from a full syringe. Some metabolize faster (especially active in cardio) and see 6–8 months; others see 14+ months. Touch-ups every 9–12 months maintain consistent shape. Don't expect a single treatment to last 2 years—that's not realistic for lip filler.

How long does lip filler last?

Lip filler runs $550 to $900 per syringe depending on product. Common picks for lips: Volbella .5ml $550 (half syringe for subtle enhancement), Kysse $800 (Galderma's lip-specific formula), Juvederm Ultra $850, Vollure $925. Most patients use 1 syringe per treatment, occasionally 1.5 for full restoration. Members receive discounted pricing.

What does lip filler cost in Lubbock?

Less than expected with proper numbing. We apply topical numbing for 15–20 minutes before treatment, and all hyaluronic acid fillers contain lidocaine that further numbs as the product is injected. The injection itself is mostly pressure and brief stings. Most patients are comfortable throughout.

Does lip filler hurt?

Lips swell visibly for 24–72 hours after treatment—you'll look more done than the final result for the first few days. Significant bruising in 10–20% of patients. Final shape settles at 2 weeks once swelling resolves. Plan around social events—don't get lip filler 3 days before a major appearance.

How long is lip filler recovery?

Yes—hyaluronic acid lip filler dissolves within 24 hours of hyaluronidase (Hylenex) injection, which we offer in-house. We dissolve if you're unhappy with the result, if there's migration, or if a complication arises.

Can lip filler be reversed?

Only if over-injected or placed incorrectly. Our approach: enhance your natural lip shape. We don't overfill or place filler outside your natural lip border. Patients comment that their lip filler looks like their natural lips, just better. The goal is "refreshed," not "obvious."

Will lip filler look obvious or fake?

Improperly placed filler can migrate, especially in lips—often seen as a "shelf" or "duck lip" appearance over time. Migration is a sign of product placed in the wrong anatomical plane or overfill. Our team places product correctly to prevent this. If you've had filler elsewhere with migration concerns, we offer dissolving and re-treatment plans.

Can lip filler migrate?

Initial swelling resolves by day 3–5. Final shape visible at 14 days. Don't judge before two weeks—lips heal at their own pace and the immediate post-injection look is not the final look.

When can I see my final lip filler result?

Yes—schedule 2–4 weeks before the event so swelling fully resolves and you see your true result. Don't get lip filler the week of (or week before) a major event—you may still be swollen or bruised. First-time lip filler: even more reason for the 2–4 week buffer.

Can I get lip filler before a wedding or event?

Lip filler adds volume to the lip with hyaluronic acid gel. Lip flip uses Botox to relax the muscle pulling the lip down, showing more of your natural lip. Filler is more dramatic, lasts longer, costs more. Lip flip is subtler, cheaper, shorter-lasting. Many patients combine both.

What's the difference between lip filler and a lip flip?

Not when properly dosed. Chronic overfilling can stretch tissue over years—but appropriate dosing across normal treatment intervals doesn't cause stretching. Patients who maintain reasonable filler amounts can stop treatment and return to baseline without permanent stretching.

Will lip filler stretch out my lips?

Possible but we take precautions. We recommend taking prophylactic antiviral medication (Valtrex) for 3–5 days before and after if you have a history of cold sores—lip filler can trigger an outbreak. Don't get lip filler during an active outbreak; wait until fully healed.
