Not FDA-cleared for this use; performed by trained, licensed staff under a plastic surgeon's medical direction.

Electrocauterization
In-office removal of small, benign skin lesions, skin tags, cherry angiomas, milia, sebaceous hyperplasia, and tiny spider veins, with a fine heated tip. $50 per lesion, confirmed at consultation. We do not treat new, changing, or undiagnosed spots; those go to a physician first.

triLift 2.0 by Lumenis
triLift 2.0 works one layer deeper than skin treatments, contracting the facial muscles that hold up the face, then firming the skin above them. Offered as two treatments: the standard muscle treatment, which needs no numbing and no recovery, and a separate RF microneedling treatment.
What are advanced treatments?
Advanced treatments are the device-driven, medical-grade services at The Spa, and they are a different category from a routine facial. A facial works on the surface. These treatments reach deeper, using a fine needle array, a plasma arc, a small electrical current, or muscle stimulation to prompt a real change in the skin, the muscle, or the follicle underneath it. Because they go further, they are performed by licensed staff, and every one begins with a consultation rather than a booking for a set result.
The five here do genuinely different jobs, so it helps to sort them by what they change. Microneedling and the plasma pen both rebuild skin, but by different routes. Microneedling creates thousands of tiny channels that set off the body's own repair response, so your skin lays down fresh collagen. The plasma pen uses a small plasma arc to heat the deeper layer and stimulate the fibroblasts that make collagen, which is why it is aimed at lax skin and heavy lids. One works through micro-channels; the other through controlled heat.
triLift 2.0 is the outlier. It works on the facial muscles beneath the skin rather than on the skin itself, contracting them with a controlled electrical current and then firming the surface above with radiofrequency. The last two are not about collagen at all. Electrolysis removes hair permanently, one follicle at a time, and it is the only method the FDA recognizes as permanent hair removal rather than long-term reduction. Electrocauterization uses a fine heated tip to take off small, benign skin bumps like skin tags and tiny surface vessels. The list below breaks each one out, so you can find the treatment that fits and go straight to the page built for it.
What's included in our advanced treatment menu
Here is the full advanced-treatments menu. Use it as a directory: find what you want to change, then open the page built for that treatment.
- triLift 2.0 by Lumenis — the one treatment here that works on muscle rather than skin. Dynamic Muscle Stimulation contracts the facial muscles that hold the face up, and FibroBoost radiofrequency firms the skin above them. It runs as a series of five weekly sessions for the face and six for the body, and it also treats the abdomen and glutes. Pricing is confirmed at consultation.
- Microneedling — our SkinPen collagen-induction treatment, where a cluster of fine needles makes controlled micro-channels that prompt new collagen. A SkinPen session is $450, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP), drawn from your own blood, can be added for $250. We also offer RF microneedling on the Lumenis triLift 2.0, which delivers radiofrequency heat through ultrathin electrodes, from $375 to $650 by area on the face, and body RF microneedling for stretch marks, scars and crepey skin, priced at consultation.
- Plasma pen — a fibroblast treatment that uses a fine plasma arc to firm and tighten lax skin, including crepey areas and heavy upper lids. It is $800 per area. Results build over the weeks after your appointment as the skin heals.
- Electrolysis — permanent hair removal that treats each follicle individually with a fine probe and a small current, and it works on any hair or skin color. It is priced by time, from $40 for 15 minutes up to $140 for an hour. Because hair grows in cycles, it is done as a series of appointments.
- Electrocauterization — removal of small, benign skin lesions, like skin tags and tiny surface vessels, with a heated tip that lifts the spot and seals the area as it works. It is $50 per lesion, confirmed at a consultation.
One honest note. None of these treatments is a diagnosis: if a skin spot is new, changing, or you are not sure what it is, that is a question for a physician first, and we will tell you so.

Your questions, answered
We’ve answered some of the most common questions below to help make your experience simple, transparent, and stress-free.
We're a medical day spa offering five categories of treatments: injectables (Botox, fillers, Sculptra, Kybella), skincare treatments (facials, peels, microneedling, dermaplaning), laser treatments (hair removal, IPL, PiQo4, tattoo removal), advanced treatments (RF microneedling, PRP, plasma pen, sclerotherapy), and wellness services (GLP-1 weight management, hormone replacement, NAD+, B12). All under physician oversight.

Where is The Spa by Sheena located?
Yes. We're a medical day spa operating under physician oversight, with Patricia Arledge, MD (plastic surgeon) as our Medical Director. All injectable, laser, and wellness treatments are performed by licensed clinical providers following medical protocols. We're regulated as a medical practice, not a beauty salon—a meaningful difference for safety and outcomes.
Is The Spa by Sheena a medical spa?
Sheena Klos founded The Spa in 2016 and serves as Spa Director and a Medical Aesthetician. Her vision: bring physician-overseen aesthetic and wellness care to Lubbock with the consistency of a major-city medical spa and the personal attention of a local business.
Who founded The Spa by Sheena?
Our clinical team includes Aesthetic Injectors Rebecca Fant, MSN, FNP-C and Angela Hunsaker, RN; Medical Aestheticians Sheena Klos, Posey Pence, and Victoria Henry; Brayden Mitchell; and Client Experience Provider Madison Brown. All work under the medical direction of Patricia Arledge, MD, our plastic surgeon Medical Director.
Who are the providers at The Spa?
Book online at thespalubbock.com or call (806) 701-5840. Most treatments have online booking available 24/7. For complex services (injectables, lasers, wellness), we recommend starting with a free consultation so we can build the right treatment plan together.
How do I book an appointment?
Yes—consultations for injectables, lasers, advanced treatments, and wellness services are complimentary and carry no obligation. We'll evaluate your concerns, recommend a treatment plan, and give you honest pricing. You decide if and when you want to move forward.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. Our membership program gives you discounted per-service pricing across the menu, priority booking, and early access to new treatments and events. Membership tiers fit different commitment levels—we'll help you choose what fits your goals. Ask at your consultation or call for current pricing.
Do you offer memberships?
No. We do not accept or bill insurance. Most aesthetic and wellness services are elective and are not covered. For medical treatments such as Botox for hyperhidrosis, some plans will reimburse you directly, and we can provide documentation for you to submit, though coverage is up to your insurer. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards where the service qualifies.
Do you accept insurance?
Three things. First, physician oversight: our Medical Director is a plastic surgeon, not a general practitioner. Second, our team's licensure: every clinical role is held by a licensed professional appropriate to the service—no shortcuts. Third, our approach: we'd rather under-treat and have you come back happy than over-treat and have you regret it. We've been operating in Lubbock since 2016.
How is The Spa different from other med spas in Lubbock?
We work with first-time patients constantly. Bring your concerns—nothing is too small or too "obvious." We'll explain what each treatment does, what it can and can't change, and what makes sense for your goals and budget. There's no pressure to commit, no upselling, and no judgment about what brought you in.
What if I'm new to medical aesthetics?
Yes, and we encourage it. Reference photos help us understand your aesthetic preferences. We'll be honest about what's realistic with your facial structure and what isn't. Photos of yourself from earlier years are also useful if your goal is to recapture a previous look.
Can I bring photos to my consultation?
Advanced Treatments at The Spa by Sheena combine multiple technologies or target specialized concerns that basic facials and peels can't fully address. The category includes RF microneedling on the Lumenis triLift 2.0, PRP-based treatments for hair restoration and skin rejuvenation, plasma pen for lifting and skin tightening, electrocauterization for benign lesion removal, sclerotherapy for spider veins, and microneedling protocols. These are recommended when standard skincare has plateaued or when you have specific concerns that require targeted modalities.
What are Advanced Treatments and when are they needed?
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is your own blood, spun in a centrifuge to isolate the platelets and growth factors. Those growth factors—when injected or applied during microneedling—signal your skin or scalp to repair, regenerate, and produce new collagen. We use it for facial rejuvenation, acne scars, and hair restoration. Because it's your own biology, there's no risk of allergic reaction.
What is PRP and what does it actually do?
Yes, for the right candidate. PRP works best on patients in the early-to-middle stages of hair loss—androgenetic alopecia, thinning crown, receding hairline. It's less effective once a follicle has been dormant for years. Most patients need 3 to 4 initial sessions spaced 4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance every 6 to 9 months. Combining PRP with topical treatments like minoxidil improves results.
Does PRP hair restoration actually work?
Regular microneedling uses tiny needles to trigger collagen production at the surface. RF (radiofrequency) microneedling adds heat energy into the dermis, treating both the surface and deeper layers. The result is more firming and texture improvement than microneedling alone, on the face and on body concerns like stretch marks and crepey skin. We use the FibroBoost applicator on the Lumenis triLift 2.0.
What is RF microneedling and how is it different from regular microneedling?
A plasma pen creates a tiny controlled electrical arc that vaporizes skin at the surface and tightens the deeper tissue underneath. It's used for non-surgical eyelid lifts, treating crow's feet and forehead lines, lifting jowls, and tightening around the mouth. Results last 3+ years per treatment. There is downtime—7–10 days of visible scabbing—so plan around social events accordingly.
What is a plasma pen treatment?
Sclerotherapy treats spider veins—small visible blue or red veins on the legs—by injecting a solution that collapses the vein from the inside. The body then absorbs the collapsed vein over 4–8 weeks. Most patients need 1–3 sessions per area. It's done in-office in about 30 minutes per session, with light compression stockings recommended for the first week.
What is sclerotherapy and is it effective?
Electrocauterization is a quick in-office procedure to remove benign lesions: skin tags, cherry angiomas, sebaceous hyperplasia, broken capillaries, and small flat moles. We use a fine electric current to vaporize the lesion at the surface with minimal damage to surrounding skin. Most lesions take seconds to remove. Multiple lesions can be addressed in one appointment.
What does electrocauterization remove?
Most advanced treatments work as a series. PRP for hair: 3 to 4 initial sessions spaced 4 weeks apart, then maintenance every 6 to 9 months. RF microneedling: 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. Sclerotherapy: 2 to 3 sessions per area. Plasma pen: typically once per quarter. Electrocauterization: usually one session per lesion. Your provider will give you a specific plan after consultation.
How many sessions of Advanced Treatments do I need?
Varies by treatment. PRP: minor swelling for 24 hours. RF microneedling: 3–5 days of redness and mild peeling. Plasma pen: 7–10 days of visible scabbing, then 2–4 weeks for full healing. Sclerotherapy: light bruising and compression stocking for a week. Electrocauterization: small scabs at treated spots for 5–7 days. We give you a specific aftercare plan at every appointment.
What's the downtime for Advanced Treatments?
Yes, when performed by trained providers in a medical setting under physician oversight. All our Advanced Treatments are performed by licensed clinical staff with appropriate training on each device. Patricia Arledge, MD—our Medical Director—oversees protocols. We follow Texas medical board standards and maintain sterile technique throughout.
Are Advanced Treatments safe?
Advanced Treatments pricing varies significantly by treatment. PRP services: $250–$700. RF Microneedling: $375–$650. Plasma Pen: $800. Sclerotherapy: $450. Electrocauterization: $50 per lesion. Electrolysis: $40–$140. Membership pricing applies—see individual service pages or ask at consultation.
What's the cost range for Advanced Treatments?
Book a complimentary consultation. We'll evaluate the specific concern you're addressing, your skin type and history, your budget, and your downtime tolerance—then recommend the right treatment (or combination of treatments). Many concerns benefit from layering multiple modalities over time. Call (806) 701-5840 or book online.
