PROCEDURE TYPE
The Back Facial at The Spa by Sheena is classified as a cosmetic procedure, performed electively for back skin maintenance rather than to treat a medical condition.
BODY AREA
The Back Facial at The Spa by Sheena is performed on the back and covers cleansing, exfoliation, extractions of clogged pores, treatment mask, and finishing products.
INDICATION
The Back Facial at The Spa by Sheena addresses back acne, hyperpigmentation, and texture concerns, often booked before weddings, vacations, or pool season.
THE PROTOCOL
What is a Back Facial?
The Back Facial brings the full facial protocol to the back. The back is a common area for acne, congestion, sun damage, and texture concerns, but it's hard to address with at-home routine alone (you can't reach it). A clinical Back Facial handles what your reach can't.
What to expect from a Back Facial
Most facials run 30 to 90 minutes depending on type. You'll be in a relaxed setting. The aesthetician will discuss your skin, current routine, and any concerns. The facial itself is generally relaxing — some elements (extractions, certain masks) can feel briefly uncomfortable.
Mild redness is normal for 1 to 3 hours after, especially after extractions or stronger exfoliation. Some patients have brief breakouts ("purging") after a facial as deeper skin contents clear; this is normal and resolves within a few days.
Skip strong actives (retinol, AHA/BHA at home) for 24 to 48 hours. Use SPF. Drink water. Most patients schedule facials every 4 to 6 weeks for ongoing skin health.

FAQ
Your questions, answered
We’ve answered some of the most common questions below to help make your experience simple, transparent, and stress-free.
A full facial protocol applied to the back. Cleansing, exfoliation, extractions for back acne, mask, hydration, and SPF. Excellent for treating back acne, hyperpigmentation from previous breakouts, congestion from sports/sweating, and general maintenance for areas you can't easily address yourself.
What's a Back Facial?
Yes—often the primary reason patients book. Professional extractions of clogged pores (done correctly to avoid scarring) and acne-focused exfoliation produce visible improvement. Severe back acne may need a series plus home care support.
Will a Back Facial help with back acne?
Same protocol, different area. Back skin is thicker than face skin and tolerates somewhat more aggressive exfoliation. Treatment time is similar (45–60 minutes).
How is a Back Facial different from a regular facial?
About 60 minutes. Includes cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, mask, hydration.
How long does a Back Facial take?
$175. Members receive discounted pricing.
How much does a Back Facial cost in Lubbock?
Every 4–6 weeks for active back acne treatment. Monthly maintenance once cleared. Seasonal maintenance (especially before swimsuit season or beach vacation) for non-acne patients.
How often should I get a Back Facial?
We provide a robe or wrap. You'll lay face-down for the treatment with your back exposed. Bring or wear a sports bra/bottom you don't mind being seen in if you'd like.
What should I wear to a Back Facial?
Mild discomfort during extractions—comparable to face extractions. Mask application and hydration are relaxing. Most patients find it comfortable and often relaxing despite the active treatment.
Does a Back Facial hurt?
Hyperpigmentation (dark marks) from past acne responds well to chemical peels and facials. True scarring (textural) needs different treatments like microneedling or RF microneedling. We'll assess at consultation and recommend the right approach.
Will a Back Facial help with scars from old back acne?
