DURATION
A Glycolic Peel at The Spa by Sheena lasts about 30 minutes, including the cleanse, application of the glycolic solution, neutralization, and post-care products.
PROCEDURE TYPE
The Glycolic Peel at The Spa by Sheena is classified as a cosmetic procedure, performed electively for routine skin maintenance rather than to treat a medical condition.
BODY AREA
The Glycolic Peel at The Spa by Sheena is performed on the face, using glycolic acid (an AHA derived from sugar cane) to exfoliate the surface layer of skin.
INDICATION
The Glycolic Peel at The Spa by Sheena addresses dullness, mild texture concerns, and uneven tone, repeatable every 4 to 6 weeks for cumulative benefit with minimal downtime.
THE PROTOCOL
What is a Glycolic AHA Peel?
The Glycolic Peel uses alpha hydroxy acid (specifically glycolic acid, derived from sugar cane) to exfoliate the surface layer of skin. The result: smoother texture, brighter tone, improved makeup application, and over a series of sessions, better skin quality and reduced fine lines.
What to expect from an AHA Peel
The treatment itself takes 30 to 45 minutes. Most peels feel like warmth, tingling, or a brief stinging during application. The provider neutralizes the peel and applies post-care products. You leave with specific home-care instructions.
Expect some flaking, peeling, redness, and dryness for 3 to 7 days depending on peel depth. The ZO 3-Step produces visible peeling on day 3 to 4 that resolves by day 7. Lighter peels may produce mild flaking that's hardly noticeable.
Skip sun exposure (this is critical) and use SPF religiously for 2 weeks post-peel. Skip retinoids and other actives for at least a week. Skip exfoliants until skin is fully calm. Avoid heat exposure (sauna, hot yoga) for several days.

GOOD TO KNOW
How the AHA Peel compares to our other peels
Glycolic is the lightest peel we offer. It's a maintenance peel rather than a transformation peel. Most patients can return to normal activity immediately. Compared to the ZO 3-Step, this is a much milder treatment that you can do every 4 to 6 weeks for ongoing benefit.
