Lash Lift and Brow Lamination in Lubbock: What to Know Before You Book

Licensed esthetician – Lubbock, TX – lash lift and tint before and after

Most people who book a lash lift in Lubbock want one thing: natural lashes that look done without putting on mascara every morning.

Pairing a lash lift with a tint can make a big difference. The lift curls your natural lashes from the root, which can make them look longer without having to keep reaching for an eyelash curler. The tint darkens them so you get more of that mascara look without the clumping, daily application, or worrying about it running when your eyes water from wind or allergies.

Brows can save time in the morning too. Waxing, lamination and tinting can help shape the brows, make them look fuller and more uniform, and cut down on how much filling in or brow gel you need day to day.

So, what is actually happening during these appointments, how long do the results last, and which lash and brow service makes the most sense for what you are trying to accomplish?

What a Lash Lift Does (and Doesn’t Do)

A lash lift is basically a perm for your eyelashes. It reshapes your own natural lashes from the root so they sit in a more lifted, curled position.

If you have never had one before, or you have but had no clue what was happening because your eyes were closed the whole time, here is the simple version.

A small silicone shield is placed on the eyelid just above the lash line, and your natural lashes are positioned up and over it. The lifting and setting solutions then help reshape the lashes into that lifted position.

There is no heat, no glue and nothing is added to your lashes.

That is also why a lift can make your lashes look longer even though we are not actually adding any length. You are changing the angle of the lashes you already have, making more of them visible instead of having them point straight out or downward.

What a lift does not do is give you more lashes, make them permanently thicker or make them darker on its own. That is where adding a lash tint can make an even bigger visual difference.

A lash lift typically lasts about 4 to 6 weeks. Just like a perm on the hair on your head, the effect gradually grows out with your natural lash cycle, which is why we recommend coming back about every 4 to 6 weeks for maintenance.

Lash Lift vs. Lash Extensions

The biggest difference is pretty simple: a lash lift reshapes the lashes you already have, while extensions add synthetic fibers to your natural lashes.

Extensions usually create a fuller, longer and more noticeable result. A lash lift is softer and more natural-looking. It simply takes your own lashes and gives them a more lifted, curled appearance.

Maintenance is different too. Extensions need regular fills as your natural lashes shed and the set grows out.

Extensions also need glue to stay on, and that’s where some people run into trouble. Lash glue can contain ingredients like latex and formaldehyde, and some people end up with dry, irritated or puffy eyes after a set. That doesn’t mean extensions are bad. Plenty of people wear them with no issues when they’re applied carefully. But if you’ve ever reacted to lash glue, or you just don’t want to deal with it, a lift gives you that wide-awake look with no glue at all.

Brow Lamination in Lubbock: Fuller, Brushed-Up Brows

Brow lamination is basically the brow version of a perm. It softens the brow hairs so your esthetician can brush and shape them into a more uniform position, then sets them in place.

This is a great option for brows that seem to have a mind of their own and need daily convincing to stay where you want them. It can also help patchier brows look fuller because brushing the hairs upward and outward can help cover some of those sparse-looking areas.

Nothing is being added to the brow. You are simply changing the direction and shape of the hair you already have, which can make the overall brow look thicker and more defined.

Adding a tint makes the brow hairs darker and can give them an even fuller, more filled-in appearance, especially if your natural hair is lighter. A wax cleans up the shape around the laminated brow. Our Brow Reset combines the wax, tint and lamination for the full effect.

Like a lash lift, brow lamination typically lasts about 4 to 6 weeks, and we recommend coming back on that same 4-to-6-week schedule for maintenance.

Adding Tint to Your Lift or Lamination

Tint is what takes a lift from curled to looking like you’re wearing mascara. It darkens your natural lashes and brows so they show up more, especially if your hair is on the lighter side. Your eyes stay closed the whole time, so all you have to do is relax.

If you’ve had a reaction to hair dye before, or it’s something you’re worried about, just let us know when you book. We’re happy to do a patch test first. It’s not required, but it’s there if you want the peace of mind.

Aftercare and How Often to Come Back

The first 24 hours matter most after a lash lift or brow lamination because the new shape is still settling in.

Keep the lashes and brows completely dry during that first day. That means avoiding water, steam, sweat, tears and cleansers around the treated area. Skip saunas, steam rooms, swimming and hot showers too, since heat and moisture can interfere with the shape while it is setting.

Try not to rub, tug or touch the area, and avoid mascara, eye makeup and oil-based products for the first 24 to 48 hours. Lash curlers and extensions should also stay away from freshly lifted lashes.

Sleeping on your back the first night helps cut down on friction against the lashes and brows while everything is still setting. After the first 24 hours, wash with a gentle cleanser and pat dry instead of rubbing.

For maintenance, we recommend coming back about every 4 to 6 weeks for lash lifts, lash tint, brow tint and brow lamination.
