Double Chin Treatment in Lubbock: Why Diet and Exercise Don’t Always Fix It

Double chin treatment in Lubbock is one of those things that does not get talked about nearly enough. Everyone knows what a double chin is, but not everyone realizes there are actually ways to treat it.

Maybe you have lost weight, cleaned up your diet, started working out more, and still find yourself lifting your chin a little higher before someone takes a photo. Or pressing your tongue to the roof of your mouth because somehow we all learned that trick without anyone actually teaching it to us. Sometimes that little pocket under the chin just refuses to cooperate.

And sometimes, it really is not about trying harder. Genetics, skin laxity, aging, and where your body naturally stores fat can all play a part.

Why Diet and Exercise Don't Always Reach a Double Chin

Weight loss helps some people. For others, the area under the chin seems to have its own agenda.

If extra weight overall is contributing to the fullness, weight loss may be the right place to start. We would rather be honest about that than pretend one treatment is the answer for everything. If weight loss is part of your goal, our GLP-1 weight management program may be the better first step. Requires consultation and medical approval. Results vary.

But there are also plenty of people at a healthy weight who eat well, stay active, and still have a softer jawline. Genetics can play a big role in that, including simply inheriting the tendency to carry more fullness under the chin.

And those chin and jawline exercises you see online? They can strengthen the muscles in the area, but stronger muscles do not automatically mean less fat sitting over them.

Fat, Loose Skin or Something Else?

Not every “double chin” is the same thing.

For some people it is mostly a pocket of fat. For others, skin laxity is what softens the jawline, and plenty of people have both.

Kybella is designed to treat fat beneath the chin. It does not tighten loose skin. If skin laxity is really what is bothering you, we would rather talk through RF microneedling or the plasma pen, which focus on the skin itself, than try to make Kybella fix something it was never designed to treat.

That is why your provider looks at the area first and figures out what is actually causing the fullness before recommending anything.

How Kybella Works

Kybella targets the fat cells beneath the chin using deoxycholic acid. That sounds much more complicated than it is. Deoxycholic acid is a substance your body already makes to help break down dietary fat.

When Kybella is injected into the fat under the chin, it destroys those targeted fat cells. Your body then gradually clears them away over the following weeks.

During treatment, the area beneath your chin is mapped out and a series of small injections are placed across it. Kybella has been FDA-approved since 2015 for moderate to severe fat beneath the chin in adults.

Depending on the amount of fat and the result you are working toward, treatment can involve more than one visit. The FDA label allows up to six treatments spaced at least one month apart.

At The Spa by Sheena, Kybella is performed by Becca (FNP-C).

What Kybella Results Actually Look Like

Kybella takes a little patience. You are not going to leave your appointment, look in the mirror, and suddenly have a completely different jawline.

Your body needs time to do its part.

Most people begin noticing a visible change around 4 to 6 weeks after the first treatment. And because everyone starts with a different amount of fullness under the chin, Kybella is often more of a series than a one-time appointment.

The clinical trials help set honest expectations. About 7 in 10 people showed improvement, compared with about 1 in 5 on placebo, and more than half of the participants received all six treatments.

There is also good longer-term information behind it. A 2025 review found that results from deoxycholic acid treatment were maintained for up to three years in the studies it reviewed.

What to Expect After Treatment

Plan for swelling. It showed up in 87% of patients in the clinical trials, and the most noticeable puffiness usually lasts about 5 to 14 days. You won't need to hide at home, but if family photos or a wedding are coming up, book with some breathing room.

Less common side effects include a temporary uneven smile or trouble swallowing (about 4% and 2% of trial patients), and both resolved on their own. In September 2026, the FDA also added a warning about firm lumps at the injection site, which in some cases don’t resolve on their own and need medical treatment.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Kybella in Lubbock

Kybella tends to fit best when the thing bothering you is a pocket of fat under the chin, your weight has been fairly steady, and you'd rather not have surgery. It also helps to go in knowing results build gradually and may take a series.

A few things can change the plan, so bring them up at your consultation: past trouble swallowing, a bleeding problem or blood thinners, earlier chin or neck procedures, an active infection in the area, or pregnancy or breastfeeding. Some of these mean waiting, and others mean your provider adjusts the approach.

What Kybella Costs in Lubbock

Kybella is $650 per syringe, but that is not necessarily your total. How much product you need and how many treatments are recommended will depend on the amount of fullness under the chin and the result you are trying to achieve.

That is why it is more helpful to ask what the full treatment plan may look like instead of looking only at the price of the first visit.

VIP members receive 10% off Kybella treatments. You can learn more about VIP memberships and what to expect at your first visit before coming in.

Common Questions About Double Chin Treatment in Lubbock

Can chin exercises get rid of a double chin?

They can strengthen the muscles in your chin and neck, but they do not specifically remove the fat sitting over those muscles. Your jaw may be getting a workout, but that does not necessarily mean the fullness is going anywhere.

Is Kybella permanent?

Kybella destroys the fat cells that are treated. That does not mean your appearance can never change again. Aging and future weight changes can still change the way your chin and jawline look over time.

Does Kybella tighten loose skin?

No. Kybella treats fat beneath the chin, not skin laxity. If loose skin is what is creating most of the softness you see, that may call for a different treatment entirely.
