What to expect

You've just had your waxing service. The next 24 to 48 hours play a real role in how your skin recovers and how smooth your results stay. This guide covers what to do at home, what to avoid, and the small habits that prevent bumps, irritation, and ingrown hairs.

Why this matters

Waxing pulls hair from the follicle, which leaves each follicle briefly open. For the first 24 hours, that open follicle is more susceptible to bacteria, friction, and irritation from sweat, heat, and product. Most of the issues people associate with waxing — bumps, breakouts, ingrown hairs — happen because the follicle gets clogged or irritated during that window. The steps below close that gap.

Post care

  • Wait at least 30 minutes after waxing before applying makeup or heavy products — 24 hours is recommended.
  • Resume your normal skincare routine the following morning.

Downtime

  • Some pinkness and sensitivity in the treated area is normal and typically resolves within a few hours to 24 hours.

Restrictions

  • Avoid sweating, strenuous exercise, saunas, soaking in a bath, hot tub, or pool for 24 hours following treatment.
  • Avoid all active skincare ingredients in the waxed areas — including AHAs, BHAs, retinols, and exfoliating products for 48 hours.
  • Wear loose, breathable clothing to minimize friction on treated areas.

When to call the spa

  • If you experience any reaction that concerns you or feels outside the norm.

Follow up

  • To maintain smooth results and stay ahead of regrowth, treatments are recommended every 4–6 weeks.

FAQ

Your questions,  answered

We’ve answered some of the most common questions below to help make your experience simple, transparent, and stress-free.

Face: upper lip, chin, sides, full face, brow. Body: underarms, half arm, full arm, half leg, full leg, bikini line, Brazilian, back, chest. We use professional hard wax for sensitive areas and strip wax for larger body areas.

What waxing services do you offer?

First-time waxing is more uncomfortable than subsequent sessions because the hair is at its thickest and follicles are most resistant. Regular waxers experience progressively less discomfort over months—the hair grows back finer. Sensitive areas (Brazilian, underarms) are more painful than face. We use techniques to minimize discomfort.

Does waxing hurt?

Every 4–6 weeks. Hair needs to be at least ¼ inch (about 2 weeks of growth) to wax effectively. Maintaining a regular schedule means less hair to remove each time and less discomfort. Skipping months means longer hair and a more uncomfortable session.

How often should I get waxed?

Waxing ranges $15–$145 depending on the area. Pricing for each service is available at booking. Members receive discounted pricing.

How much does waxing cost in Lubbock?

We strongly recommend against shaving between waxes. Shaving cuts hair at the surface and the regrowth is blunt—when you wax, the wax needs to grab the actual hair, not stubble. Shaving also restarts the cycle of coarse regrowth. Stick with waxing consistently for finer regrowth and better long-term results.

Can I shave between waxing appointments?

Typically 3–4 weeks of smoothness before noticeable regrowth. Faster on the face, slower on legs. Consistent waxing over months can extend results as hair regrowth becomes finer and less dense.

How long does waxing last?

Yes—waxing is safe throughout pregnancy. Skin can be more sensitive during pregnancy, so the same wax may feel more uncomfortable than pre-pregnancy. Communicate with your aesthetician about sensitivity levels.

Can I wax during pregnancy?

Some patients experience temporary redness or small bumps for 12–24 hours after waxing—normal inflammation that resolves. True breakouts post-wax are uncommon. We provide post-wax care recommendations (exfoliation, moisturizer) to minimize bumps and ingrown hairs.

Will waxing make my skin break out?

Yes—wear a fresh tampon to the appointment. Skin is more sensitive during your cycle, so the wax may feel more uncomfortable than usual. Many waxers prefer to schedule mid-cycle for maximum comfort.

Can I get a Brazilian wax during my period?

Book online or call (806) 701-5840. First-time waxers: we recommend an in-person consult first if you have skin sensitivities. Most appointments available within a week.
