What it is
Skincare treatments at The Spa by Sheena address tone, texture, pigmentation, fine lines, and active conditions like acne. The category includes facials at multiple depths, chemical peels (light to medical-grade), microneedling, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, Glo2 Facial variants, and condition-specific protocols for acne and melasma.
What's included
If you're not sure where to start, a Skincare Consultation ($25) gives you a personalized recommendation based on skin type, current routine, and goals. Most skincare services can be booked directly online without a prior consultation.
Who performs it
Our Medical Aestheticians (Brayden Mitchell, Victoria Henry, Posey Pence) perform all skincare services. Each holds a Texas esthetician license with additional medical aesthetic training.
Our services
A facial is a maintenance treatment—cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, mask, hydration. A chemical peel uses controlled acid exposure to remove damaged layers of skin and trigger renewal underneath. Facials are gentle enough for monthly use. Peels are stronger and used every 4–8 weeks depending on intensity. Most patients build a routine that includes both.
What's the difference between a facial and a chemical peel?
Every 4–6 weeks for maintenance—your skin cycles through a full turnover every 28 days, so monthly facials keep texture, hydration, and tone consistent. If you're treating an active concern like acne or melasma, weekly or bi-weekly visits during the correction phase, then monthly maintenance after.
How often should I get a facial?
Microneedling uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Your body responds by producing collagen and elastin in the treated area. The result, over a series of 3 to 4 sessions, is improved texture, smaller pores, softened acne scars and stretch marks, and overall firmer skin. We use the SkinPen device, which is the only FDA-cleared microneedling system.
What is microneedling and what does it actually do?
Yes—it's one of the most effective non-laser treatments for acne scars. Microneedling triggers collagen remodeling in the scarred tissue, gradually filling and softening the depressions. Most patients see meaningful improvement after a series of 3 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Combining with PRP (microneedling + PRP) accelerates results further.
Can microneedling help with acne scars?
There's a brief tingling or warmth during application that fades within minutes. Light peels (ZO 3-step, AHA) feel like a sunburn for a few hours. Medical-grade peels (TCA, Herbal Green) feel more intense and may flake or peel visibly for 3–7 days afterward. We never push a stronger peel than your skin and schedule can handle.
Do chemical peels hurt?
No. That's a common myth. Dermaplaning removes fine vellus hair ("peach fuzz") at the surface, but it doesn't affect the hair follicle. Vellus hair grows back at the same color and texture as before. The blade also removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin smoother and your makeup application more flawless.
Will dermaplaning make my hair grow back thicker or darker?
Glo2 is an oxygen-infusion facial that uses three patented technologies in sequence: a gentle exfoliation, an active serum infusion driven into the skin with capsulated oxygen, and a final lymphatic massage. It's more effective at addressing tone, texture, and hydration in one session than a traditional facial. Variants include Lux, Express, Platinum, and RF—your provider will recommend which fits your goals.
What's the Glo2 Facial and how is it different from a regular facial?
Most of our facials and Glo2 treatments are pregnancy-safe. We avoid retinoids, salicylic acid, hydroquinone, and certain essential oils during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Chemical peels, microneedling, and laser treatments are paused until after pregnancy. Tell us at booking and we'll customize the protocol.
Can I get a facial while pregnant?
Skincare treatment pricing varies. Facials range $90–$225 depending on type. Glo2 Facials: $150–$525 across variants. Chemical peels: $90–$375. SkinPen Microneedling: $450. PRP-enhanced microneedling: $250. See individual service pages for full pricing.
How much do skincare treatments cost in Lubbock?
It depends on whether you're treating active breakouts, post-acne marks, or scarring. For active acne we use a combination of medical-grade facials, peels (ZO 3-step or TCA), and targeted extractions. For post-acne dark spots: chemical peels and IPL. For acne scars (the textural kind): microneedling, RF microneedling, or PiQo4 laser. We'll build a custom plan after looking at your skin.
What treatment is best for acne?
Melasma needs a layered approach because it's driven by both pigment and inflammation. We typically combine a topical prescription regimen with in-office treatments: gentle peels (avoiding overly aggressive lasers that can worsen melasma), targeted IPL where appropriate, and consistent SPF. Treatment is ongoing maintenance, not a one-time fix—anyone promising a quick cure is misleading you.
