What it is

RF Microneedling combines microneedling with radio-frequency energy delivered through the needle tips. The needles create micro-injuries; the RF energy delivered at depth heats the deeper layers, causing controlled tissue contraction and accelerated collagen building. The combination addresses both texture concerns (the microneedling effect) and skin laxity (the RF effect).

What we use

Our RF microneedling device is Fractora by InMode. Fractora is well-studied, FDA-cleared, and offers variable depth and energy settings for different concerns. We treat the face, neck, decolletage, and selectively the body (stretch marks, scars).

What to expect

Topical numbing is applied for 30 to 45 minutes before treatment. The actual session takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on area. The sensation during treatment is heat with sharpness; tolerable with numbing.

Significant redness and swelling for 24 to 72 hours. Pinpoint scabs that are typical of microneedling, with possible additional crusting from the RF energy. Skin is sensitive and tight for several days.

Skip strenuous exercise and sun for 1 week. Use gentle skincare and SPF religiously. Avoid retinoids and actives for 1 to 2 weeks. Results visible at 4 to 6 weeks and continue improving for 3 to 6 months.

Most patients book 2 to 3 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. Results build over the series and continue improving for 3 to 6 months as new collagen forms.

What does RF Microneedling treat?

Standard microneedling creates surface micro-injuries triggering collagen at the dermis level. RF microneedling does that AND adds heat energy deeper. Standard is good for texture/glow; RF is required for true tightening and deep concerns. RF has slightly more recovery but produces more dramatic results.

How is RF Microneedling different from standard microneedling?

A structured series of 3 to 6 sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart, is recommended to achieve optimal skin tightening and resurfacing results. Maintenance every 12–18 months keeps results.

How many RF Microneedling sessions will I need?

Topical numbing applied for 45 minutes before treatment makes it well-tolerated. The heat element adds warmth sensation compared to standard microneedling. Most patients describe it as more intense than standard microneedling but manageable with numbing.

Does RF Microneedling hurt?

Recovery from RF Microneedling is about 7 days. Day 1–2: significant redness, swelling, possibly some bruising or pinpoint marks at needle sites. Day 3–5: redness fading, possible mild flaking. Day 7: most patients back to normal appearance.
