What it is
What it is
A lip flip is a small dose of Botox placed along the upper lip line. The neurotoxin relaxes the muscle that pulls the upper lip downward when you smile, which lets the lip roll slightly outward and reveal more of its natural shape. It's not a filler. There's no added volume. The lip you have looks fuller because more of it is showing.
Where we treat
The vermillion border of the upper lip, which is the line where the colored part of your lip meets the surrounding skin. Four to six tiny injection points across the upper lip line are typical.
What to expect
You may notice a feeling of fullness or stiffness around the upper lip for the first few days. Drinking from a straw, whistling, and pronouncing certain words can feel a little different. This is temporary.
Avoid touching, rubbing, or pressing on the upper lip for 24 hours. Skip strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Keep your head upright for the first 4 hours. Softening starts within 5 to 7 days. The result holds for about 6 to 8 weeks.
How it compares
A lip flip changes how your lip moves. A lip filler changes the volume of your lip. Some patients want one, some want the other, and some get both. A lip flip is the right call if your lips look thin when you smile and you want a subtle outward roll. A filler is the right call if you want actual size or shape change. Your injector will walk through both during consultation so you can decide what matches your goal.
The treatment
A lip flip takes about 5 to 10 minutes. The dose is small (usually 4 to 6 units of Botox), and the needle is very fine. Most patients describe the sensation as quick pinches at each injection point. Results show up in 5 to 7 days and last about 6 to 8 weeks, shorter than a typical Botox treatment because the dose is so small.

A lip flip is a small Botox dose (4–6 units) injected into the muscle along the upper lip line. The Botox slightly relaxes the muscle that pulls the upper lip downward, allowing more of your natural lip to show when you smile or rest. Result: subtle increase in apparent upper lip volume without filler.
What is a lip flip?
A lip flip uses Botox to relax muscle and reveal more of your natural lip—no volume is added. Filler adds actual volume to the lip with hyaluronic acid gel. Lip flip is subtler, more affordable, and shorter-lasting. Filler is more dramatic, more expensive, and longer-lasting. Some patients combine both.
How is a lip flip different from lip filler?
Typically 6–8 weeks—shorter than standard Botox treatments because the doses are smaller and the lip area metabolizes faster. Patients who want consistent results re-treat every 2 months. Some prefer occasional lip flips for special events.
How long does a lip flip last?
Lip flip is typically 4–6 units of Botox ($14/unit), so about $56–$84 per treatment. Significantly cheaper than lip filler (which starts around $550/syringe). Lasts 6–8 weeks. Members receive discounted per-unit pricing.
How much does a lip flip cost in Lubbock?
Very brief discomfort—2–3 quick small injections at the upper lip line. Takes seconds. Most patients describe it as mild, similar to other Botox treatments. No real downtime.
Does a lip flip hurt?
Effects begin at 4–7 days and peak at 10–14 days, similar to other Botox treatments. The change is subtle—you'll notice slightly more visible upper lip when smiling and at rest. Don't expect dramatic plumping (that's filler).
When will I see lip flip results?
Common: temporary mild difficulty pursing lips for kissing, drinking through a straw, or precise lip pronunciation (M, P, B sounds). Resolves as the Botox wears off. Some patients find this intolerable and prefer filler; most find it minor or unnoticeable.
What are the side effects of a lip flip?
Depends on your goal. If you want subtle enhancement showing more of your natural lip, yes. If you want noticeably plumper, more defined lips, no—you need filler. Many patients try a lip flip first as a low-commitment way to see if they like having more visible upper lip, then move to filler if they want more.
Can a lip flip replace lip filler?
Yes—commonly combined. The lip flip reveals more lip; the filler adds volume to that revealed lip. Combination can produce more dramatic and natural-looking results than either alone. We can do both at the same appointment or in separate sessions.
Can I combine lip flip with lip filler?
First-time patients: complimentary consultation to discuss whether lip flip, filler, or both best fits your goals. Returning patients: book the treatment directly. Call (806) 701-5840 or book online.
