What it is

The Glycolic Peel uses alpha hydroxy acid (specifically glycolic acid, derived from sugar cane) to exfoliate the surface layer of skin. The result: smoother texture, brighter tone, improved makeup application, and over a series of sessions, better skin quality and reduced fine lines.

What to expect

Mild redness and slight tightness for several hours post-peel. Some patients see very light flaking over the next 2 to 3 days; many see no visible flaking at all.

Skip retinoids and active actives for 24 to 48 hours. Use SPF (essential after any peel). Drink water.

Visible brightness within 1 to 2 days. Cumulative benefit over a series of monthly peels.

How it compares

Glycolic is the lightest peel we offer. It's a maintenance peel rather than a transformation peel. Most patients can return to normal activity immediately. Compared to the ZO 3-Step, this is a much milder treatment that you can do every 4 to 6 weeks for ongoing benefit.

The treatment

A 30-minute session: cleanse, apply the glycolic solution for several minutes, neutralize, apply post-care products. The peel may feel like mild tingling or warmth during application. The provider monitors and adjusts time based on your skin's response.
