What to expect
The most important thing you'll do after your Sculptra treatment isn't what you avoid — it's the massage. The 5-5-5 routine you'll see below is the single biggest factor in whether your results turn out smooth and even. Read carefully.
Why this matters
Sculptra is a collagen stimulator, not a filler. The product is a poly-L-lactic acid that triggers your body to produce its own collagen over weeks and months. Massaging the area distributes the product evenly under the skin and prevents it from clustering, which is what causes the rare nodule formation people worry about. Skipping the massage is the single most common cause of uneven results.
Post care
- Beginning the day of treatment, massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 consecutive days. This is a critical step — it helps distribute the product evenly and reduces the risk of nodule formation.
- Allow the skin at least 30 minutes to settle before applying makeup. Waiting the full 24 hours is strongly recommended.
Downtime
- Swelling and mild tenderness in the treated area is expected for the first 2–5 days following your appointment.
- Bruising may occur in treated areas and can last up to 7–10 days.
Restrictions
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours following your appointment.
- Avoid all active skincare ingredients including AHAs, BHAs, and retinols for 48 hours.
- Do not pick at any injection site bumps.
When to call the spa
Contact The Spa immediately if you experience:
- Any change in skin color in the treated area, particularly grey, white, or black discoloration — this requires immediate attention
- Vision changes of any kind
- Redness, pus, discharge, fever, swelling, or pain that is worsening rather than improving
Follow up
Results develop gradually as collagen production increases, with full results visible at approximately 8 to 12 weeks. A series of treatments spaced 4 weeks apart is recommended, followed by annual maintenance treatments to sustain your results long-term.
Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid—a biostimulator that triggers your body to produce its own collagen. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers that add immediate volume from the product itself, Sculptra works by gradually rebuilding the structural support of your face from underneath. Full results visible at 8 to 12 weeks. Annual maintenance treatments sustain results.
What is Sculptra and how is it different from regular fillers?
A series of treatments spaced 4 weeks apart is recommended. Most patients need 2 to 3 sessions, with each session using 1–2 vials depending on areas treated. Annual maintenance treatments sustain results long-term.
How many Sculptra sessions do I need?
Results develop gradually as collagen production increases. Initial subtle changes appear at 4–6 weeks. Full results from a complete series are visible at 8 to 12 weeks. The trade-off for waiting: results look more natural and last much longer than typical fillers.
When will I see Sculptra results?
Sculptra is best for areas of broad volume loss: temples, cheeks, jawline, lower face. It's not used in lips. Off-face applications include neck, decolletage, and buttocks for collagen building. We don't use it under the eyes (too superficial for that area).
What areas can Sculptra treat?
We apply topical numbing before treatment, and the product is mixed with lidocaine. Most patients are comfortable. Injections are deeper than typical fillers, which can feel different—more pressure than pinching. Soreness is normal for 24–48 hours.
Does Sculptra hurt?
Recovery is about 5 days. Mild swelling and possible bruising at injection sites. Important post-treatment activity: massage the treated areas 5 times per day for 5 minutes, for 5 days (the "5-5-5 rule"). This prevents product from clumping and ensures even collagen building.
What's the recovery from Sculptra?
Up to 2 years per series. Some patients see results for 2.5+ years. The collagen Sculptra builds is your own—once it's there, it persists. Most patients return for a touch-up vial annually to maintain results.
How long does Sculptra last?
Sculptra is $850 per vial. Most patients use 1–2 vials per session, with 2 to 3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. Total investment for a typical full series: $1,700–$5,100. Annual maintenance treatments sustain results. Members receive discounted per-vial pricing.
How much does Sculptra cost in Lubbock?
No—Sculptra is not reversible. The collagen your body builds is permanent until it's naturally broken down over years. This is why we're conservative with dosing and progress slowly. We'd rather you come back for another vial than over-treat in one session.
Can Sculptra be reversed?
Depends on your goals. Want immediate, dramatic volume? Choose hyaluronic acid filler. Want gradual, natural-looking restoration that lasts much longer? Choose Sculptra. Want both? Many patients combine—filler for immediate impact, Sculptra for long-term structural support. We'll recommend at consultation based on your face and what you're trying to achieve.
Sculptra vs filler—which should I choose?
Most adults with mild-to-significant facial volume loss are candidates. Better for patients who want gradual change and are willing to wait for results. Not for patients with active skin infection, certain autoimmune conditions, or those who want immediate dramatic change. We screen at consultation.
