What it is
Advanced Treatments at The Spa by Sheena include modalities that combine multiple technologies or target specialized concerns. The category covers RF microneedling with Fractora, PRP-based treatments for hair restoration and skin rejuvenation, plasma pen, electrocauterization for benign lesion removal, sclerotherapy for spider veins, and microneedling protocols.
What's included
These treatments often address concerns that aren't fully resolved by surface-level skincare. Some require a consultation first (electrocauterization, for example, requires evaluation of each lesion). Others book directly online.
Who performs it
Advanced Treatments are performed by our nurse practitioner Rebecca Fant (MSN, FNP-C), Aesthetic Nurse Angela Hunsaker (RN), and Medical Aestheticians Brayden Mitchell, Victoria Henry, and Posey Pence, depending on the specific service.
Our services
Advanced Treatments at The Spa by Sheena combine multiple technologies or target specialized concerns that basic facials and peels can't fully address. The category includes RF microneedling with Fractora, PRP-based treatments for hair restoration and skin rejuvenation, plasma pen for lifting and skin tightening, electrocauterization for benign lesion removal, sclerotherapy for spider veins, and microneedling protocols. These are recommended when standard skincare has plateaued or when you have specific concerns that require targeted modalities.
What are Advanced Treatments and when are they needed?
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is your own blood, spun in a centrifuge to isolate the platelets and growth factors. Those growth factors—when injected or applied during microneedling—signal your skin or scalp to repair, regenerate, and produce new collagen. We use it for facial rejuvenation, acne scars, and hair restoration. Because it's your own biology, there's no risk of allergic reaction.
What is PRP and what does it actually do?
Yes, for the right candidate. PRP works best on patients in the early-to-middle stages of hair loss—androgenetic alopecia, thinning crown, receding hairline. It's less effective once a follicle has been dormant for years. Most patients need 3 to 4 initial sessions spaced 4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance every 6 to 9 months. Combining PRP with topical treatments like minoxidil improves results.
Does PRP hair restoration actually work?
Regular microneedling uses tiny needles to trigger collagen production at the surface. RF (radiofrequency) microneedling adds heat energy through those same needles, treating both the surface AND deeper layers simultaneously. The result is more dramatic tightening and texture improvement than microneedling alone—particularly for jowls, neck laxity, and stretch marks. We use the InMode Fractora platform.
What is RF microneedling and how is it different from regular microneedling?
A plasma pen creates a tiny controlled electrical arc that vaporizes skin at the surface and tightens the deeper tissue underneath. It's used for non-surgical eyelid lifts, treating crow's feet and forehead lines, lifting jowls, and tightening around the mouth. Results last 3+ years per treatment. There is downtime—7–10 days of visible scabbing—so plan around social events accordingly.
What is a plasma pen treatment?
Sclerotherapy treats spider veins—small visible blue or red veins on the legs—by injecting a solution that collapses the vein from the inside. The body then absorbs the collapsed vein over 4–8 weeks. Most patients need 1–3 sessions per area. It's done in-office in about 30 minutes per session, with light compression stockings recommended for the first week.
What is sclerotherapy and is it effective?
Electrocauterization is a quick in-office procedure to remove benign lesions: skin tags, cherry angiomas, sebaceous hyperplasia, broken capillaries, and small flat moles. We use a fine electric current to vaporize the lesion at the surface with minimal damage to surrounding skin. Most lesions take seconds to remove. Multiple lesions can be addressed in one appointment.
What does electrocauterization remove?
Most advanced treatments work as a series. PRP for hair: 3 to 4 initial sessions spaced 4 weeks apart, then maintenance every 6 to 9 months. RF microneedling: 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. Sclerotherapy: 2 to 3 sessions per area. Plasma pen: typically once per quarter. Electrocauterization: usually one session per lesion. Your provider will give you a specific plan after consultation.
How many sessions of Advanced Treatments do I need?
Varies by treatment. PRP: minor swelling for 24 hours. RF microneedling: 3–5 days of redness and mild peeling. Plasma pen: 7–10 days of visible scabbing, then 2–4 weeks for full healing. Sclerotherapy: light bruising and compression stocking for a week. Electrocauterization: small scabs at treated spots for 5–7 days. We give you a specific aftercare plan at every appointment.
What's the downtime for Advanced Treatments?
Yes, when performed by trained providers in a medical setting under physician oversight. All our Advanced Treatments are performed by licensed clinical staff with appropriate training on each device. Patricia Arledge, MD—our Medical Director—oversees protocols. We follow Texas medical board standards and maintain sterile technique throughout.
Are Advanced Treatments safe?
Advanced Treatments pricing varies significantly by treatment. PRP services: $250–$700. RF Microneedling: $375–$650. Plasma Pen: $800. Sclerotherapy: $450. Electrocauterization: $50 per lesion. Electrolysis: $40–$140. Membership pricing applies—see individual service pages or ask at consultation.
What's the cost range for Advanced Treatments?
Book a complimentary consultation. We'll evaluate the specific concern you're addressing, your skin type and history, your budget, and your downtime tolerance—then recommend the right treatment (or combination of treatments). Many concerns benefit from layering multiple modalities over time. Call (806) 701-5840 or book online.
